1.2017-06-23 Regarding certification of seafarer recruitment and placement service in conformity with the requirements of the International Labour Organization‘s Maritime Labour Convention, 2006. 

We would like to inform all those concerned that according to Standard A1.4, paragraph 2 of Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (hereinafter – MLC 2006) where a Member has private seafarer recruitment and placement services operating in its territory whose primary purpose is the recruitment and placement of seafarers or which recruit and place a significant number of seafarers, they shall be operated only in conformity with a standardized system of licensing or certification or other form of regulation.

The Business Entities’ Activity Supervision Division of the Lithuanian Maritime Safety Administration certifies enterprises providing services related to maritime safety. Certification is performed in accordance with the procedures prescribed by the Maritime Safety Law of the Republic of Lithuania and the Minister of Transport and Communications. One of those services related to maritime safety are mediation in recruitment of seafarers on board ships or employment of seafarers on board ships. The procedures of certification under national law also ensure compliance of seafarer recruitment and placement services to the standards set out in MLC 2006. The provisions of Maritime Safety Law of the Republic of Lithuania do not require any separate paper certificate, certification data and information about certified  recruitment and placement services  must be published in electronic form in official Lithuanian Maritime Safety Administration website:

2.2014-05-28 Dear Sir, we are a Marine service station that does Fire Extinguisher service and Inspections located in Ecuador – South America (Approved by the Maritime Authority of Ecuador – IMO member state – and the ABS as an external specialist). I would like to know if the Inspection Certificates issued by us to Lithuanian Flag Ships would be accepted or if you require other approvals. 

Lithuanian Maritime Safety Administration will accept inspections in Lithuanian Flag Ships, but you should send us Certificate, issued by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), which proves your right to inspect ships.

3.2014-05-10 I would like to know,is it possible to get Lithuanian certificates for the citizen of Latvia? If i graduated from Liepaja marine college. 

As you have finished a sea educational institution in Latvia concerning reception of the sea diploma you should address to the register of seamen of Latvia.

4.2014-05-08 I would like to know if Bachelor Diploma in Engineering issued abroad is recognized in Lithuania. I would like to know if it is possible to get Lithuanian certificate granting the right to perform duties of engineering officer. 

Only certificates issued by the Lithuanian educational institutions are recognized in Lithuania.
