Registration of Inland Watercraft

Types of Inland Watercrafts subject to registration:

 

  1. Inland waterways vessels (fishing vessels less than 24 m length, passenger vessels, cargo vessels, tugs, etc.).
  2. Recreational craft (with the load capacity more than 250 kg).
  3. Sail yachts (with the length more than 2,5 m and less than 24 m).
  4. Inland waterways vessels (under construction).
  5. Outboard engines.

 

All the above mentioned inland watercrafts shall be owned by citizen or a legal person of the Republic of Lithuania. Also residents of Lithuania might obtain the registration of the inland watercraft.


Documents submitted to register an inland watercraft at the Register of Inland Waterways Craft of the Republic of Lithuania:

 

  • an application;
  • the original document proving the ownership of an inland watercraft or a notarized copy of such a document. The document proving the ownership of a vessel in a foreign language shall be translated into the Lithuanian language (translator’s signature on the translated document shall be confirmed by a seal of a translation office or a notary);
  • the original of Certificate of Deletion issued by the previous register, if registered. The Certificate of Deletion in a foreign language shall be translated into the Lithuanian language (translator’s signature in the translated document shall be confirmed by a seal of a translation agency or a notary);
  • a document evidencing the identity of the person has to be provided;
  • a copy of Certificate of Class issued by an authorized classification society (if applicable);
  • a report of a survey issued by Lithuanian Maritime Safety Administration.

 

It is also possible to register the inland watercraft on the basis of a Bareboat charter agreement. In this case the bareboat charter agreement must be provided instead of Document evidencing the ownership of the inland watercraft. Permission from main (underlying) register must be provided.


Documents issued by the Lithuanian Maritime Safety Administration depending on the type of the inland watercrafts:


  • Recreational Craft Certificate or
  • International Sail Yacht Certificate or
  • Certificate of the Inland Waters Transport establishment;
  • Certificate of the Inland Waters Transport establishment's Temporary Registration at the Register of Inland Watercraft of the Republic of Lithuania.
